Also called Agadez. A hilly region in northern Niger, more-or-less in the middle of the entire Sahara desert. The region has been a Tuareg Sultanate until nearly the present day. The town of Agadez, currently the capital of Niger's most northerly province, is about 470 miles (750 km.) northeast of the national capital of Niamey, and about 230 miles (370 km.) north-northwest of Zinder.
